Advertising & Affiliate Disclosure
Effective date: October 31, 2026
This site is free to read because of ads and, in the future, paid links. We may earn money from both, at no extra cost to you, and that doesn’t decide what we say.
Ads
We show ads from Google AdSense. Every ad is labeled “Advertisement.” Ads don’t appear on our About, author, Editorial Standards, Contact or legal pages. We don’t choose the individual ads Google shows, and an ad isn’t a recommendation from us.
Paid links
As of the effective date above, this site has no affiliate links. If we add them, some guides may include links to services that fit the topic, such as business formation, payroll or field-service software. If you buy through one of these links, the company may pay us a commission. These links will:
- sit inside a box labeled “Affiliate links”,
- have the words “paid link” right next to them, and
- come with a note near the top of the page: “We may earn a commission from paid links on this page, at no extra cost to you. Our advice isn’t for sale.”
No insurance, lending or legal referrals
We don’t accept commissions or referral fees from insurance carriers, insurance brokers, quote marketplaces, lenders or law firms. Our insurance guide is education only and has no paid links.
What we promise
- We recommend a product only if we’d recommend it without the commission, and only where it fits the topic.
- We point out when a step is free at the government agency (for example, an EIN from the IRS), so you don’t pay a middleman by mistake.
- We don’t accept payment for reviews or rankings. If a company ever gives us a free product or pays us, we’ll say so on that page.
- We don’t put prices in affiliate boxes because they change. Check the company’s page.
Our own company
Contractors Guidebook is made by Top Rank ROI LLC, which also sells website and marketing services to local businesses. If we mention those services on this site, we label it clearly as “our own service.”
Amazon
If we join the Amazon Associates program, we’ll add Amazon’s required statement here.
